Senior Financial Controller | Avient

Avient Corporation has a Financial Controller position at our Geleen, Netherlands facility.  This position supports our Protective Materials Business unit which was recently acquired from DSM Corporation.
In this role you will be responsible for supporting the DPM business in the areas of Financial Analysis and Control, while also being responsible for supporting the Finance team with relevant data analysis and systems improvements to guide and facilitate their activities. In this role you will reports to the Lead Management Accountant, head of Financial Control of DSM Protective Material. We offer a hybrid workplace with the office located in Geleen.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Leverage your analytical skills and ability to translate financial data in to relevant insights for financial planning, actuals and reporting activities;
  • Initiate and manage systems and process improvements that are in alignment with BG objectives;
  • Responsible for balance sheet management and reconciliation for the assigned entities;
  • Provide all (accruals, provisions, corrections, etc.) content for Journal Entries (recurring and incidental) to the shared service center;
  • Ensure that agreed services as agreed with FSS (Financial Shared Services) are delivered up to standard;
  • Support the preparation of Monthly and Quarterly Management Reporting Deck;
  • Support, as required by team needs, the analysis and reporting on Operating Expenses, cash management, payroll control, manufacturing costing and variances, statutory reporting, and other areas of Financial Control;
  • Be direct contact to budget holders to support budgeting and forecasting process;
  • Provide evidence for the Internal Control Framework and follows up on remediation plans;
  • Be backup of FICO key user role and other reporting and closing activities;
  • Maintaining proficiency with systems, tools, and statistical modeling techniques (e.g., MS Office Suite, Power BI, BW);
  • Support business divestment from DSM, integration to Avient Corporation and DPM finance process improvement initiatives.

Education and experience

  • Passionate for finance with >6 years of work experience in an international environment and eager to learn more and grow;
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration and/or Controlling and/or CPA or CMA preferred. (Big-4) accounting & auditing firm background is preferred;
  • Accounting knowledge, technology, and process expertise;
  • Analytical skills and ability to translate financial data into relevant insights;
  • A self-starter with excellent inter-personal skills and strong ability of stakeholder management. Can express her/his ideas with ease and flair;
  • An ambitious and talented team player, with a collaborative mindset.
