Purpose of the position
- The planning team provides the target level of Availability to Promise against the service levels defined by the industries at optimal working capital requirements (inventory);
- Aims to avoid stock-outs / delays, while at the same time preventing high inventory levels or expiration of shelf life;
- Provides efficient and effective inventory planning for Area Europe;
- Ensures accurate and proactive communication flow across the Supply Chain for all matters pertaining to the planning function;
- Analyses and identifies shortages medium term and takes appropriate actions for leveling out inventories in close collaboration with commercial management;
- Provides accurate and reliable information on ATP to Customer Care;
- Ensures adherence to the system settings (i.e. master data), reflected by the PO Adherence KPI.
Position context
- DSM Nutritional Products Europe is active throughout all Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) supplying vitamins and carotenoids to the animal feed, food, pharmaceutical and personal care industries;
- DNPE has its main location in Kaiseraugst (Switzerland), and employs further key staff among others in Venlo (Netherlands). The products which are ordered by customers and international Key Accounts are sourced from our Distribution Centre located in Venlo (Netherlands).
Keys of responsibility
- Manage proactively transfer of inventories to Area Europe based on incoming orders;
- Manage inventories and safety stocks in line with demand i.e., historical data versus booked orders, seasonality’s;
- Communicate proactively and responsively progress on blocked orders to Customer Care;
- Manage shelf life in line with the FEFO principle, aiming to ensure requested remaining shelf life is available to customers, and as little material as possible expires (or requires re-testing for shelf-life extension);
- Release of blocked orders in close collaboration with commercial management;
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures, assuring a uniform methodology and easy back-up between team-members;
- Adherence to segregation of duties and SHE guidelines.
Knowledge and educational level
- Bachelor in business administrations or other supply chain management related fields;
- Familiar with MRP/DRP;
- Familiar with EDP systems SAP R 3;
- Good knowledge of Microsoft application (Outlook, Word, Excel);
- Effective communication skills.

- Background in Supply Chain;
- Very good command of English is a prerequisite;
